The Creative Connections project continued on February 23, when 15 TLCLA learners visited Edmonton Christian School Northeast’s art class to create sculptures with the students there. The participants started by talking about what they’ve learned during their time together, about literacy and about each other. Then they made sculptures that reflected their feelings about reading and literacy. Later, with the help of teacher Evelyn Martin, the group put their individual sculptures together to make a larger one built around a “mountain” made of books from both schools.
All the participants are looking forward to the final event: the release of the documentary and book about the project. The premiere is at the Art Gallery of Alberta on Thursday, May 25. Watch this site for more details!
